The goal was not renovation for renovation's sake, but a total rethinking of how a property this size could feel fully inhabited: every building purposeful, every room considered, the land itself as much a part of the design as the interiors.

The design language is specific and unapologetic: a running vocabulary of gingham, Jenny Lind spindles, folk quilts, and a palette of mint and forest green that moves from the painted millwork of the kitchen through the floors of the sunroom to the walls of the corn crib. Nothing was neutral by accident.

Working in collaboration with McDaniel Wallquist and architect Brian Stokes, Studio Eckström shaped not just the interiors but the property's entire sense of itself.
